Mahut reflects on his defeat against Isner at Wimbledon: It will remain in the memory of an entire generation

After playing the final match of his remarkable career, Nicolas Mahut looked back on his defeat after 11 hours of play against John Isner in the first round of Wimbledon in 2010.

Mahut is now retired. The 43-year-old Frenchman treated himself to one last dance with Grigor Dimitrov in doubles at the Paris tournament. Together, the two men put up a good fight but lost to the pair Nys/Roger-Vasselin (6-4, 5-7, 10-4).

After his defeat, Mahut was asked about the famous match he lost against John Isner in the first round of Wimbledon in 2010, which remains the longest match in tennis history fifteen years later.

"In a way, it will remain in the memory of an entire generation, which is not a bad thing. For me, it was a very painful moment, like a moment where I felt suspended in time.

Inevitably, it's one of my greatest memories as a professional. At first, it was even annoying to be reminded of that match, because I was tired of being the loser. But today, I love talking about that crazy experience.

It brought me a lot as a player and as a person, and I don't mind being associated with a defeat, because after that, I managed to achieve great victories in my career," Mahut assured Punto de Break.
