Marcos Baghdatis still believes in Stefanos Tsitsipas: "He can regain the level of a top 10 player"
Stefanos Tsitsipas's 2025 has been turbulent: inconsistent results, a drop in the rankings, a highly publicized breakup with Paula Badosa, and instability in coaching between a failed collaboration with Goran Ivanisevic and the return of his father Apostolos as coach.
The double Grand Slam finalist will therefore enter 2026 outside the top 30, currently being ranked 34th in the world. He will have to fight to return to the top and become a serious contender for the biggest titles again.
"You have to accept the current situation"
For Tennis365, former player Marcos Baghdatis provided the keys to a possible return of Tsitsipas among the world's best players:
"I think it depends on the decisions he makes. Can he regain his best level, that of a top 10 player? Of course he can. I think he is still capable of it.
What I might suggest is perhaps going back to basics. Start from scratch. Accept where you are today and rebuild everything.
When you have been in the top 10 and you fall in the rankings, you want to recapture the same feelings you had during that period or in a particular match, but it's impossible to feel exactly the same thing.
So you have to accept that, start from scratch and return to the fundamentals. Start everything over. Acceptance, I think, is the key. You have to accept the current situation and move forward step by step."
