Daniil Medvedev is on top form. In a US Open already full of surprises, the Russian has not lost his way, at least for the time being.
Despite a few minor lapses in concentration, Medvedev's overall performance has been top-notch.
After two solid matches, he perfectly contained Flavio Cobolli, ranked 31st in the world, on Saturday (6-3, 6-4, 6-3).
Medvedev exerted constant pressure on his opponent, particularly on his returns (7 successful breaks).
Accelerating when he needed to, the world no. 5 is now on the rise and will face Nuno Borges (34th) in the last 16.
A match well within his grasp!
