Medvedev wants to be reassuring: "When I'm back to my best, the titles will come back".
Daniil Medvedev kicks off the Marseille tournament against Pierre-Hugues Herbert and will be looking to reassure himself after a poor start to the season, eliminated in the 2nd round at the Australian Open and then in Rotterdam.
Present at the press conference, the Russian is still confident despite this period of doubt:
"At the moment, I think it's very important for me to win a tournament again. For me, for my confidence.
But what's better if you take last year? To win a 250 or to make the final in Australia, the semi-final in Dubai while not feeling too good physically, and then the final in Indian Wells and the semi-final in Miami?
I'd say the finals... But right now, the most important thing for me is to win a lot of matches, to get a better feel for my game again, because the matches I lost, I feel I wasn't that far off.
I'm not playing well and I'm close to winning, which is a good sign. When I get back to my true level, maybe I'll win more matches, more easily, and the titles will come back."
