Mensik impressed but not resigned: "Alcaraz and Sinner are on another level"
The young Czech prodigy bows to the evidence: a gap still separates the best from the rest of the pack.
In an ATP tour undergoing major changes, where youth is knocking on the throne left by legends, 20-year-old Jakub Mensik is gradually carving his path. Revealed this season by a victory at the Miami Masters 1000, the Czech remains humble and above all very clear-eyed about the current hierarchy.
"Right now, Alcaraz and Sinner are the best, and there's a big gap with the others. We're trying to reach them... but they are superior to us in every way. Their consistency, their style of play, every shot they produce makes the difference. They are on another level."
But this observation is not resignation. Quite the opposite. The ambition is definitely there, fueled by observing their movements during training sessions:
"You can learn a lot from them in training. Facing them for the first time would help me understand how they react in every situation."
Finally, regarding his media explosion following his triumph in Miami, Mensik refuses to get carried away:
"Fans and journalists start talking about you, and your matches get much more attention. But that doesn't mean you're at the level of the best. I have no expectations for my career. I'm only focused on my work."
