Monfils ends Schwartzman's Grand Slam career

Diego Schwartzman's Grand Slam career is over.

Despite a fine qualifying campaign and a high-flying first set, the Argentine could do nothing, eventually losing to the much more solid Monfils (6-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1).

After being pushed around for just over a set, the Frenchman took full advantage of Schwartzman's inability to find a solution.

Overall reassuring, 'La Monf' now has a gala second round match against Casper Ruud, world number 8 and a finalist in New York in 2022.
