Monfils meets Thiem in Majorca!
The Majorca tournament doesn't offer exactly the same playing conditions as Wimbledon. And yet, once again this year, the ATP 250 has managed to attract a number of players with fine pedigrees. Among those registered are Ben Shelton, Jordan Thompson, Adrian Mannarino, Luciano Darderi, Fabio Fognini, Alejandro Tabilo, Gaël Monfils and Ugo Humbert.
And it has to be said that things could get serious as early as Monday.
The draw has already been made, and one of the first-round matches is attracting particular attention. This is the duel between Gaël Monfils (seeded number 6 in the tournament) and Dominic Thiem, invited by the tournament organizers.
As the Austrian is living his last moments on the professional circuit, this could be Monfils' last chance to beat him, as he has never managed to beat the former world number 3 (in 6 matches).
