Monfils withdraws from Munich tournament
Gaël Monfils will ultimately not compete in the ATP 500 event in Munich. The Frenchman was set to face Denis Shapovalov tomorrow in his opening match.
His withdrawal was announced late in the day without any reason provided. He will be replaced in the main draw by Diego Dedura-Palomero. The 17-year-old, ranked 549th in the world, had lost in the second round of qualifying against Alexander Bublik.
The German will play the second ATP main-draw match of his career after competing in Santiago back in February.
