Monnet wins her all-French duel against Ferro

Monnet defeated her compatriot Ferro in the second round of Roland-Garros qualifications (7-5, 6-2). Invited by the organization, the 23-year-old player showed no fear against her elder to win in 1 hour and 24 minutes.

Effective in crucial moments, the French player won seven of her 10 break points throughout the match. She also capitalized on her opponent's 33 unforced errors. Up against Belarusian Dmitruk in the next round, the world No. 227 will attempt to secure a first-round spot in the main draw of Roland-Garros.

This season, Monnet reached the third round of qualifications in Australia and achieved two semifinals at the W75 tournaments in Saint-Gaudens and Trnava.
