Moutet explains his withdrawal in Madrid: "My back didn’t allow me to do much"
This Wednesday, Corentin Moutet was unable to finish his first-round match at the Madrid Masters 1000. Facing his compatriot Harold Mayot, the French player received a penalty point in the second set before throwing in the towel shortly after, which drew whistles from the crowd (6-3, 4-2 ret.). On his X account (formerly Twitter), Moutet explained his withdrawal was due to a back injury.
"I went for an MRI right after my match, and I’m still waiting for the results. I wanted to give it a try today, but I didn’t realize it would be this bad. My back didn’t allow me to do much. I hope to be back on the court soon. I wish my opponent the best for the rest of the tournament," wrote the world No. 82 on social media.
