Mpetshi Perricard eliminated in the third round of Indian Wells by Griekspoor
Seeded 31st in the Indian Wells Masters 1000, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard was knocked out in the third round by Tallon Griekspoor in two sets (7-6, 6-3).
Penalized by a lack of first serves (only 51% throughout the match and five aces in total), Mpetshi Perricard could not keep up in the rallies against Griekspoor, who was the first to secure a break early in the match. Although he gave it back in the following game, it was logically in the tie-break that the Dutchman took the lead.
In the second set, a single break at 2-1 was enough for him to pull away and conclude the match on his tenth ace of the game.
After eliminating Alexander Zverev, Griekspoor thus confirmed his feat and will play in the round of 16 against the winner of the match between Frances Tiafoe and Yosuke Watanuki.
