Muller defeated by Djere in the first round in Buenos Aires
After a very good start to the year, marked by his first ATP Tour title in Hong Kong at the beginning of January, Alexandre Muller will not be repeating this performance in Argentina.
In the first round of the ATP 250 tournament in Buenos Aires, the Frenchman was unable to overcome Laslo Djere.
Always a handful on clay, the Serb, now down to 112th in the world, confirmed his good performance in qualifying.
After beating Marco Trungelliti (6-4, 6-4) and Federico Coria (6-2, 6-4), Djere, formerly ranked 27th in the world, this time dominated Muller in the main draw (6-3, 6-3 in 1h13 of play).
More solid in important moments (3 break points converted out of 5, 1 break point saved), Djere won in two sets and joins Alejandro Tabilo in the second round.
The Chilean, seeded 4th in this South American tournament, is now a credible outsider for the title.
As a result of Muller's defeat, there are only two French players left in the draw. They are Corentin Moutet (who will play Munar) and Hugo Gaston (who will play Passaro).
