Murray, pleasantly surprised by retirement: "I feel really free".

Murray, pleasantly surprised by retirement: I feel really free.

As a young retiree, Andy Murray spoke to the BBC about his first impressions.

When asked about this new period in his life, Murray confessed to being surprised.

While he thought he'd have a hard time coping with the situation, the Scot confessed to enjoying this new phase in his life as a man: "Since I've stopped, I feel really free and I've got lots of time to do what I want.

I can spend time with my children and have free time to play golf or go to the gym on my terms.

It's really nice and I didn't expect it.

I expected to find retirement difficult and miss a lot of tennis and want to get back on the tennis courts on tour. So far, it's just the opposite of what I thought it would be.

What I've always found difficult in recent years is that there was always a sense of guilt associated with what I was doing."
