Gauff quips: "So I've managed to achieve both my goals".
Coco Gauff had a very special Olympic Games.
Flag-bearer for the American nation, she showed a surprising feverishness, losing her composure completely during a refereeing incident, then losing to Vekic in the Round of 16 (7-6, 6-2).
Although deeply affected by these events, the American already seems to have turned the page and is looking to concentrate on what's next, in particular the upcoming US Open.
As defending champion, she knows that her fans expect her to do the double.
On the sidelines of her Toronto opener, Gauf was asked about her Olympic experience.
All smiles, she preferred to be positive: "I could sit here for hours talking about all the cool people I've met at the Olympics.
I finally took a photo with Rafa Nadal. I didn't post the photo, but I probably should have... I also finally took a photo with Andy Murray, which I'd always wanted to ask him.
So I managed to achieve my two objectives, to get a photo with both of them.
Ironically, they're tennis players, so I could have had them in any tournament, but I don't know, I just felt I didn't have enough confidence.
But at the Olympics, other athletes asked for it, so I didn't feel out of the ordinary, whereas here, they probably don't ask for it as much in these tennis tournaments."
