Murray returns to competition in Geneva!

Murray returns to competition in Geneva!

Andy Murray is set to return to competition. While images of the Scot training on ochre had been leaked for several days, the news is now official: the former world number 1 will be making his return this clay-court season.

As a reminder, the Scot had injured his ankle following his third-round match in Miami against Tomas Machac (lost 5-7, 7-5, 7-6). This setback seems to be behind him, as the Geneva tournament has just announced on its social networks that a wild-card has been offered to the British champion.

The 37-year-old, who is likely to play his last season on the ATP circuit, does not seem to want to miss out on clay this year. This choice can probably be explained by the approach of the Paris Olympic Games, which will be played on clay. The three-time Grand Slam winner has never concealed his attachment to the Olympic event, and still hopes to hang on to it. On this subject, Inews reported that Andy, aware of his shortcomings, was planning to take part in singles and, above all, doubles (alongside Dan Evans) in order to maximize his chances.

The world No. 77 has therefore chosen to stop over in Switzerland in order to rediscover a maximum of automatisms on the surface and to be able to perform well at Roland-Garros (where he is expected to take part in both singles and doubles), but above all at the Olympic Games.
