Musetti, Tsitsipas' Conqueror in Monte-Carlo: "This Victory Has a Special Flavor"

Lorenzo Musetti secured his place in the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 this Friday. The Italian player overcame defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) and reached the final four of this tournament category for the very first time in his career.
After this prestigious victory—his first against the Greek in six meetings—the current world No. 16 shared his thoughts upon advancing to the semifinals, where he will face Alex De Minaur for a spot in the final.
"This victory has a special flavor. I hadn’t managed to beat Stefanos in our previous matches, and I believe I delivered a fantastic performance. I did everything necessary to make him uncomfortable, disrupted his rhythm, and shook his confidence in his shots.
I rediscovered my warrior version. I stepped onto the court with a winning mentality that I’d never had before in the biggest matches of my career," he stated, before discussing his upcoming match against the Australian.
"Clay isn’t his preferred surface, unlike me. If I had the choice, I’d always pick to face him on this surface. But he’s becoming more and more consistent—I think we both have the weapons to trouble each other.
I believe in my chances. I’m coming off one of the best wins of my career, and I don’t think there’s a favorite. I just need to give my all on the court," Musetti concluded in recent comments to Punto De Break.
