My family has done an amazing job keeping me away from everything," says Mboko

Victoria Mboko, ranked 333rd at the start of the 2025 season, has now broken into the Top 100. After making it through the Roland-Garros qualifiers, the Canadian has reached the third round and will face Qinwen Zheng.
In five matches played, she still hasn’t lost a set. She attributes this rapid rise partly to her family, who help her stay happy and shielded from pressure.
She explains: "Right now, I’m really happy; a lot is happening around me, even behind the scenes. I feel like my family has done an amazing job keeping me away from everything.
I’m enjoying the moment with my siblings; I keep my circle small, which helps me stay calm and composed. As for my dad, he’s retired now, but he always worked hard to be at all my practices, especially during my junior years.
He’s always been very strict about my tennis; he contributed so much to my development, my great training, and the excellence of my coaches. Without him, a lot of this wouldn’t have been possible.
I didn’t expect to break into the Top 100 this quickly—it’s really exciting, but I had no idea. I think my parents were the ones who told me, so yeah, it’s a great achievement.
Who wouldn’t dream of being among the top 100 in the world? We’re among the best, playing in Grand Slams; for me, it’s a big accomplishment, considering I started the season in the top 300.
I think it’s a huge step forward in every way, so I’m really happy.
