Zizou Bergs defeated Gabriel Diallo in a decisive set tie-break to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters 1000.

With this victory, the 26-year-old Belgian will enter the Top 40 for the first time in his career. In the mixed zone after the match, he reacted to his win: "This means a lot to me. You can probably see it in my reaction. It's quite incredible.

I feel like my path is a bit different, that the speed of my journey is different. I'm 26 years old, I keep reaching new heights in my career.

I know everything won't always be rosy, I've also had difficult moments this year, but I'm really curious to see where my potential will take me.

Yes, I think that's what matters most to me, knowing where this will lead me, and continuing to focus on my development. That's how I got here today, and I truly hope to continue on this path in the future."

Bergs will face Novak Djokovic or Jaume Munar for a spot in the Shanghai semifinals.
