I spoke with Vagnozzi...": Musetti gives update on Sinner
After his sudden withdrawal at the Shanghai Masters 1000, the public expected a quick reaction from the Italian or his team. But it was ultimately Lorenzo Musetti who broke the silence.
Following his round of 16 victory against his compatriot Luciano Darderi, Musetti discussed the extreme conditions that have already caused seven withdrawals since the start of the tournament:
"The conditions are extreme. You have to be careful, stay hydrated, the heat and humidity have influenced many matches."
Among the victims: Jannik Sinner, who left the court exhausted, suffering from cramps, unable to continue against Tallon Griekspoor. But since then? Not a word from the world number two. Until Musetti, questioned by Spazio Tennis, dropped this enigmatic phrase:
"I haven't had news from Sinner after his withdrawal, but I spoke with Vagnozzi. I saw him this morning at breakfast, and he didn't seem worried at all. He told me that Jannik had already left. I imagine we'll see him at the Six King Slam, then at the ATP 500 in Vienna.
