Nadal calms down: "You don't win with names".
Rafael Nadal doesn't want to skip any steps.
Having qualified for the quarter-finals of the Olympic doubles tournament alongside Carlos Alcaraz, he was keen to send a message to certain fans.
Indeed, the two Spaniards are not specialists in the discipline, and a medal is far from assured. They are only in the quarter-finals, and their next opponents are real doubles specialists.
In a statement relayed by our "Cadena Ser" colleagues, he declared: "The medal is taken for granted by people who don't know tennis.
You don't win with names. Doubles is very different from singles.
We played very little together, but we played at a very good level against very tough opponents who were used to playing doubles.
We finished the match at a better level than in our first encounter. It's important to us every day."
