Nenad Zimonjic, Djokovic's friend and mentor: "With Murray, it can work".
In recent days, Novak Djokovic has surprised everyone. The Serb has confirmed in a video that Andy Murray, who retired from the courts this summer, will be his coach at least until the Australian Open.
The two friends, who are also former rivals on the ATP circuit, will therefore be working together over the coming weeks.
Nenad Zimonjic, a friend and mentor of the former world number 1, spoke of the future agreement between these two great champions.
"Novak is an intelligent person when it comes to making important decisions. His professional career is proof of that.
He always confided in me when he needed help. I think Andy Murray can fill this role very well because they know each other well.
They have similar playing styles and, tactically, the Scot was one of the best in the world," he told Ubitennis.
"Everything Andy has experienced in his career can help him. I think this relationship can work. It's new for him. He'll be one of the members of Novak's team.
With Murray as well, it could work. Novak's big goal is to win another Grand Slam in 2025. He knows he can do it, and now I see him much more motivated than he was at the start of 2024."
