Considered the heavy favorite this week in Jeddah, Learner Tien has qualified, like last year, for the Next Gen ATP Finals.

The American, world number 28, overcame his compatriot Nishesh Basavareddy in three sets (4-2, 4-1, 4-3). He notably hit 26 winners and broke his opponent's serve five times.

A tantalizing duel against Blockx

In tomorrow's final, Tien will face Alexander Blockx, who remains undefeated since the start of the tournament. This will be their very first meeting on the professional tour, after two encounters in the juniors in 2023.

Blockx notably won the Australian Open junior final (6-1, 2-6, 7-6).

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
