No miracle for Diego Forlan on the Montevideo courts
Invited to play doubles at the Challenger tournament in Montevideo, Diego Forlan and his partner Federico Coria (ranked 101st in singles) lost 6-1, 6-2 in the first round to #4 seed Arias/Zeballos.
The Montevideo center court was packed. And with good reason: the former Uruguayan soccer star was the surprise of the tournament. Despite his defeat, he was all smiles throughout the match.
At the end of the match, he took the opportunity in his speech to thank the public, who had come out in force to support him, and the tournament: "I had a lot of fun. I knew it was going to be a tough match for us, but I was happy."
