"One of the most painful moments of my career," Dimitrov shares an update after his withdrawal at Wimbledon
While leading 2 sets to 0 in the Wimbledon round of 16 against Sinner, Dimitrov was forced to withdraw. Injured in his right pectoral muscle, the Bulgarian had to undergo surgery a few days later. Currently in his hospital bed, the 34-year-old player wanted to speak out following this latest unfortunate event:
"Sometimes, the heart wants to keep moving forward, but the universe has another plan for us. Withdrawing from that match at Wimbledon was one of the most painful moments of my career. Thank you for the overwhelming wave of love from my family, friends, fans, colleagues, and the entire tennis community… Your messages truly supported me during these tough times. I thank you all. Sincerely. The healing begins now. See you soon."
Injured during the last five Grand Slam tournaments, the player seems cursed. Let down by his body many times throughout his career, Dimitrov will once again fight to return to competition as soon as possible.
