Overend believes in Raducanu: 2025 could be a great year for her.

Emma Raducanu wants to regain her full sensations.

The British player, who has been plagued by injury in recent years, was keen to get 2025 off to a good start in Auckland last week, but things didn't go to plan.

Having to withdraw at the last minute, the 2021 US Open winner will now prepare for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, which kicks off next week.

The 22-year-old, who has risen to 60th in the WTA rankings, has been in search of a title since her surprise triumph on the Flushing Meadows courts over three years ago.

Nevertheless, British observers are optimistic. Jonathan Overend, tennis commentator for Sky Sports, believes Emma Raducanu will have a good season.

"Yutaka Nakamura is a very experienced fitness trainer on the tennis circuit, having worked with Maria Sharapova for many years.

I think he's exactly the type of person Raducanu should have by her side, alongside her coach Nick Cavaday, who did a great job with her last year.

Raducanu is 60th in the world, she's made enormous progress in recent months and she's played just over ten tournaments, it seems to me she played thirteen events last year.

So I think it's only a matter of time before Raducanu re-enters the world's top 50.

Then it's a question of how many major tournaments she can win, because that's when the most important ranking points are at stake.

As we saw during her exploits at the US Open in 2021, when she won it as a qualifier without losing a single set, she has the ability to beat the best.

The big question is whether she can stay physically fit. Now that she's surrounded by a well-defined team, I think 2025 could be a great year for Emma Raducanu," he assured Sky Sports.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
