Panatta on the Masters: "Musetti is extraordinary, everything else is boredom"
Adriano Panatta was critical of this edition of the Turin Masters.
A former Italian tennis star, the 75-year-old man spoke on "La Telefonata," his show with Paolo Bertolucci, notably reacting to Lorenzo Musetti's victory over Alex de Minaur (7-5, 3-6, 7-5) at the ATP Finals in Turin:
"Lorenzo Musetti was extraordinary. Everything else (or almost), as Califano used to say, is boredom. I never thought he would bring the match home after the break he suffered in the third set."
Next, Panatta discussed the upcoming match between Musetti and Alcaraz in Turin, which has high stakes: his compatriot can secure his spot in the semifinals, while the Spaniard can secure his year-end world No. 1 ranking.
"If the world number 9 plays against the number 1, he has at least a 40% chance. But here, the difference is greater: let's say 35%. If he is physically well, we will see good tennis. They are two players who have a great arm, and that doesn't happen every day on the tour."
As a reminder, the match between the two players will take place this Thursday, November 13, starting at 8:30 PM (local time).
