De Minaur: "I will be Alcaraz's biggest fan tonight"
Alex de Minaur will need to count on a Carlos Alcaraz victory this Thursday evening to secure his qualification for the semi-finals of the ATP Finals.
After a solid win against American Taylor Fritz (7-6, 6-3) in his third and final match in the Jimmy Connors group, the Australian secured his first victory in Turin after six matches played. When interviewed after the match, he stated:
"I came out today with a very clear tactic and mindset. I was going to live and die by the sword playing my tennis, my style of game. And I knew that was the only way to do it. A lot has happened in 48 hours. And as I said, the last few days have been one of the darkest moments of my career. But I am a perfectionist. And today is a really good moment."
Finally, the 26-year-old player responded to the fact that his progression to the final four depends on an Alcaraz victory against Musetti tonight:
"Is that true or false? I don't know, I don't trust you (the journalist) right now (laughs), I'll see how it goes. But if that's the case, I'm going to be Carlos's biggest fan tonight, that's for sure."
