Paolini gives himself a scare, then qualifies
The finalists of the last French Open are not taking it easy this Saturday.
After Iga Swiatek qualified, Jasmine Paolini followed suit.
Like the world number 1, the Italian struggled to adapt to the surface, but won in two sets (7-5, 6-3).
Against Ana Bogdan, the world no. 5 got off to a fairly disastrous start (1-4) before recovering to win 10 of the next 12 games (7-5, 4-1).
Holding her ground right to the end, Paolini reached the second round after a decent match (25 winners, 32 unforced errors).
In the next round, she could face Russian nugget Mirra Andreeva or the experienced Magda Linette.
