Paolini Kicks Off Quarterfinal Against Gauff in Stuttgart: "Coco is a Tough Opponent"

This Saturday, the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart is hosting its quarterfinals with several exciting matchups, including the clash between Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini.
The two players haven’t faced each other since Cincinnati in 2023, and the American has always come out on top in their two previous encounters. Paolini, currently ranked 6th in the world, will aim to put up a strong performance in this match to secure a spot in the semifinals in Germany.
After defeating two German players, Eva Lys and Jule Niemeier, Paolini sees the competition level rise even higher in the quarterfinals and shared her thoughts on the upcoming match against the 2023 US Open champion.
"With Coco, we know each other well. I’ve trained with her often over the last six months. She’s a really tough player. She can play very well.
She’s the kind of player who can hit the ball hard. I’ll need to stay aggressive and control the rallies. But it won’t be easy because she serves well, moves well, and defends well. To me, she’s a very complete player.
I’ll have to stay focused, play aggressively, and be present on every point," Paolini stated before discussing her new collaboration with her coach, Marc Lopez.
"The idea of working with Marc Lopez came about a bit by chance. We’re getting to know each other, and we’re trying to communicate a lot. This is the first tournament where he’s seeing me play live, and it’s not easy.
However, I’m happy with how the partnership has started, and we’ll see how it goes.
To be honest, I don’t know what to expect, but so far, so good," she concluded in her recent interview with Super Tennis.
