Paolini victorious on her Masters debut
In the second match of the purple group, Jasmine Paolini won the first match of her Masters career, beating Elena Rybakina (7-6, 6-4).
The Italian, who is the second oldest player in history to play her first Masters, was the first to make the break in the match (4-2) before giving it back in the process.

It was in the tie-break that she made the difference, before taking Rybakina's serve at 3-3 in the second set to cruise to victory.
She will play her doubles match tomorrow alongside Sara Errani, before playing Qinwen Zheng on Monday. Elena Rybakina, for her part, will have to pull off an upset against Aryna Sabalenka if she is to stay in contention.
