WTA Finals - Sabalenka masters Zheng for the fourth time this season!
Facing Qinwen Zheng in the first match of the WTA Finals in the purple group, Aryna Sabalenka won in two sets (6-3, 6-4) and just over an hour's play.
The world n°1 was never troubled by the Chinese player, with just one break point to save in the early stages (1-1, 30-40). Zheng was quickly caught off guard by the Belarussian, and struggled on her serve (only 51% first serves and four double faults).
Aryna Sabalenka thus begins this Masters in the best possible way and is now just two wins away from finishing the year as world n°1 ahead of Iga Swiatek.
