Paul and Shelton also withdraw from Davis Cup, U.S. team announces replacements
Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton, both eliminated in the third round of the US Open, announced their withdrawal yesterday from the Laver Cup in San Francisco (September 19-21).
They will also miss the Davis Cup weekend next week (September 12-14). The United States will face the Czech Republic in Delray Beach.
Following these two withdrawals, captain Bob Bryan has decided to call up three new players: Reilly Opelka, as well as doubles specialists Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek. They will join Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe on the U.S. team.
As a reminder, the winner of this match will be among the nations qualified for the finals held in Bologna from November 18 to 23.
