Tommy Paul has reached the semifinals of the Rome Masters 1000 for the second year in a row. He achieved this by defeating Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3.
During the press conference, the American, though happy to advance this far in the tournament, admitted that his week hasn’t been entirely smooth—his vehicle was seized due to missed payments:
"On the court, things went pretty well. But off the court, the week has been pretty stressful. They seized my pickup. I missed a few payments, and they took it from my place. I had to scramble to get it back. It’s my baby.
I had to pay a thousand bucks to get it back. My coach is going to pick it up today. But I had to win a few matches to pay for all that and get it back. (laughs)."
