Pegula feels more ready than ever for Wimbledon: "I've never arrived at Wimbledon with so much confidence."

Pegula feels more ready than ever for Wimbledon: I've never arrived at Wimbledon with so much confidence.

Jessica Pegula's return to competition is bordering on perfection. Absent since April, she has already managed to triumph on the WTA circuit.

Despite an early elimination in Bois-le-Duc, she had an idyllic tournament in Berlin, leading her to the title last Sunday.

Dominating Coco Gauff in the semi-finals (7-5, 7-6), she held her nerve in the final. Opposed to a dazzling Kalinskaya, the current world number 5 showed incredible moral tenacity.
Having saved no less than 6 title points, it was only after a battle lasting over 2 hours 30 minutes that she was able to raise her arms in victory (6-7, 6-4, 7-6).

Interviewed after this superb success, the 30-year-old didn't mince her words. The victory has boosted her confidence ahead of Wimbledon: "I knew I could play well on this surface, and giving myself a few extra weeks on grass has clearly paid off.

I've played some really good tennis this week and I feel like I've beaten some really good girls, especially on grass.

It's great to be able to pull off a win like this. I've never arrived at Wimbledon with such confidence. I hope it pays off. To be able to hold a few matches and have a few long matches so that the body can get ready.

I feel like I've been through a lot this week, so if I've been able to manage this week, I think at Wimbledon I should feel good.
