"People forget that I'm still world No. 3," Zverev responds to criticism about his form ahead of Wimbledon
After starting his 2025 season strongly with a finals appearance at the Australian Open, Alexander Zverev gradually disappointed in major tournaments and only claimed one title in Munich.
During Wimbledon's Media Day, the German player sought to put his challenging year into perspective, asserting that he remains one of the top contenders for the most prestigious titles:
"I’ve had a very good preparation. I played a final (Stuttgart) and a semifinal (Halle). There was a lot of work put in during these tournaments. People forget that I’m still world No. 3 and also No. 3 in the Race.
I’ve had a few losses here and there. Some were expected, others maybe unexpected.
Overall, I think I’ve regained my form over the last few weeks, even months. I’m looking forward to Wimbledon starting—I believe I can play well here."
Zverev will begin his campaign on Monday against Arthur Rinderknech. He could potentially face Taylor Fritz, one of his toughest opponents, in the quarterfinals.
