Petkovic on Keys' chances at Indian Wells: "If she manages to get through the first two rounds, she will be very dangerous"
Madison Keys will arrive with a new status at Indian Wells, having won her first Grand Slam in Australia in January and now being world No. 5, her highest career ranking.
However, the American has never truly shined on Californian soil, at best reaching the tournament's quarterfinals in 2022. For Tennis Channel, Andrea Petkovic shared her analysis on Keys' real chances:
"I truly believe that for this type of player, who hits the ball very hard, the first two rounds at Indian Wells are very difficult. The ball bounces very high.
The mistake we all make as players is that we think we need to hit less hard because the ball bounces high, when in reality, you need to accelerate.
If she manages to understand this and get through the first two rounds, she will be very dangerous."
