Pliskova, absent from the tour for almost a year, has resumed training
Karolina Pliskova may finally be seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The Czech player, 33 years old and a former world No. 1, has been away from the tour since the 2024 US Open, where she injured her ankle in the first game of her match against Jasmine Paolini.
Having undergone surgery twice since then, most recently in May of this year, the current world No. 320 is now preparing for her return to competition. The two-time Grand Slam finalist, who still doesn’t know when she’ll be able to return to the main tour, has resumed training in recent hours.
Still a semifinalist at last year’s WTA 1000 in Doha against Iga Swiatek, Pliskova has been waiting to play a professional match since August 29, 2024, and has certainly never seemed closer to making her comeback.
