Rinderknech: "I just messed up, I hit the wall".
Arthur Rinderknech was forced to retire after leading 2 sets to 0 against Tomas Martin Etcheverry (3-6, 7-6, 6-1, 5-0). The Frenchman injured the big toe of his left foot when he kicked an advertising sign to vent his frustration (see video below). He explained this in no uncertain terms at his post-match press conference.
Arthur Rinderknech: "I feel great physically, but I just messed up. I hit the wall, a little annoyed, at 2-0, when I was broken in the fourth set. And I'm not sure at the moment, but I hope I didn't break my toe. Afterwards, I couldn't put my foot down..."
