Rublev at Indian Wells: "With the playing conditions, it feels like playing 4 different tournaments"
As the Indian Wells Masters 1000 has just changed its surface, Andrey Rublev, speaking to the Bolshe YouTube channel, also discussed the local climate and its impact on the playing conditions.
He stated: "I don’t know if the courts are faster or not. Yes, it seems the color has changed, it was blue, now it’s more purple.
But the conditions here have always been tough. It’s hard to explain them.
It’s one tournament, but it feels like there are four different ones, because when you play during the day in the heat, it’s a completely different feeling.
You play at night, it’s entirely different, it doesn’t even resemble anything else. Then the next day, it will be cold, which is usually a third inexplicable factor.
And the fourth, when the wind is strong. Because of that, it seems to me that everyone always struggles here."
