Rublev confides: "For many years I struggled with depression".

Le 11/08/2024 à 17h19 par Elio Valotto
Rublev confides: For many years I struggled with depression.

Andrey Rublev presented himself at the press conference with an almost unsettling transparency.

A magnificent quarter-final winner over Sinner, he now hopes to overcome Arnaldi and reach the final of the Montreal Masters 100.

Asked about the period of poor results from which he seems to be emerging, the Russian made no secret of the fact that he has been through some very difficult times in his personal life.

Touchingly, he declared: "What am I talking about when I say that I've had difficulties in recent months?

Mentally, I wasn't in order. I don't know how to put it. I think it was already a long time of everything.

I started to burn out because I'd struggled for many years with depression, with a lot of things off the field.

I think this year I just couldn't handle it anymore, and it started to explode.

It started to explode more and more on the field because in life I was able to stay calm, but on the field I was burning it all up.

In the end, yes, I was struggling. Now, for the last few months, I've been feeling really good, and right away, tennis is going better."
