Rublev on the Sonego affair: If he'd been in my shoes, he'd have done the same thing.

The sequence caused quite a stir. Andrey Rublev, who played in Metz last week, caused a stir by withdrawing before his second match.

Having beaten defending champion Lorenzo Sonego, the Russian had preferred to play the match before withdrawing. Claiming an injury, everyone understood the real reason for his withdrawal: with Novak Djokovic's withdrawal officially qualifying him for the Masters, he didn't want to prolong his adventure in France.

Sonego was understandably unhappy with this decision, and his defeat at the hands of Rublev, who was already thinking about Turin, was difficult to digest.

Beaten by Alexander Zverev in his first group match in Turin (6-4, 6-4), Rublev was asked about it and was unquestionably frank: "I understand Lorenzo's feelings, but everything is relative. I went to the Moselle Open to qualify for the Masters. He knew that.

He understood it, as did the tournament organizers. So, when the rumours of Djokovic's withdrawal started to spread, Casper, Alex and I waited. If Djokovic had made his absence official earlier, we wouldn't be involved in these tournaments.

But 'Nole' announced it on the day of my match. So I decided to play, because some fans had paid for their tickets. I'm sure that if Sonego had been in my shoes, he would have done the same thing."

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.

How about leavin...

It's a shame that so many matches are being canceled. TT ,you are destroying your game ,and thereby killing your app. I don't know how many matches others have had canceled , but I'm at 3 and it's only thursday.

As a long time player and lover of this game , I don't know how much of this I can tolerate. For example I waited hours last night for you to confirm my win and post my points. Every ot...

This week I have used all my formulas and best guesses to try to achieve the high score jimandlori958 set in our last competition. I am two games short because of cancelations and I need all wins to get there.

Grenier def Ysu 6-2 , 6-2 at Kobe today and the TT canceled the match.

An impressive win.. Congrats to our winner this week, jimandlori958 and with a score that could not be caught or matched. I don't remember a 56 in a while with our group. Nice to see everyone using the 2 point predictions. Can't win without 'em.
