Rublev to compete in Montpellier ATP tournament
Andrey Rublev wants to regain his confidence. The Russian, ranked 9th in the world, was eliminated in the first round at the Australian Open by Brazilian revelation João Fonseca (7-6, 6-3, 7-6), but confirms his difficult run of recent months.
Indeed, the two-time Masters 1000 winner has lost seven of his last ten matches, excluding his withdrawal before facing Corentin Moutet in the quarter-finals in Metz.
In a bid to get back on track, Rublev has decided to take part in the ATP tournament in Montpellier, which runs from January 26 to February 2, according to Le Midi Libre.
He will be the tournament's main headliner, and will be in Hérault for the second time in his career after 2018.
Other players taking part in the Open Occitanie include Félix Auger-Aliassime, Sebastian Korda and Stan Wawrinka.
As for the French players, they include Gaël Monfils, who has been in fine form at the start of the season, as well as Alexandre Muller, Corentin Moutet and local player Arthur Cazaux.
Richard Gasquet will also be in Montpellier for the last time in his career.
