Rune Overcomes Griekspoor to Reach His First Semifinal at Indian Wells

In two sets, Holger Rune managed to defeat Tallon Griekspoor (5-7, 6-0, 6-3) to advance to the semifinals of the Indian Wells Masters 1000.
After an impressive quarterfinal victory against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rune had to confirm his status this Thursday against Griekspoor, who had defeated Alexander Zverev in the second round.
The first set was disjointed, with the Dutchman eventually taking control after three successful breaks and 58 minutes of play. But Rune then woke up, conceding only six points to his opponent in the second set, which he won 6-0.
In the third set, a single break was enough for the Dane to secure the victory. Overall more solid, with 32 winners and seven successful breaks, Rune now awaits the winner of the match between Arthur Fils and Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals.
After a successful tournament despite this quarterfinal elimination, Griekspoor will return to the Top 40 next Monday, ranked 34th in the standings.
