Rune reassures himself and reaches the quarter-finals
Holger Rune seems to be gradually returning to quality tennis in Tokyo.
After a very difficult first round against a rather impressive Alejandro Tabilo (6-2, 5-7, 6-4), he clearly stepped up a notch on Saturday.
Against Yoshito Nishioka, the Dane played a very solid game, from first to last point (27 winners, 10 unforced errors).
Winning in just over an hour (6-2, 6-4), Rune enjoyed himself and will now challenge Nishikori for a place in the semi-finals.
