Rune: 'Sinner Leveled Up Without Adding Anything New'
Holger Rune was the guest on the Served podcast, hosted by Andy Roddick. During the show, he discussed world No. 2 Jannik Sinner.
For him, the Italian progressed through hard work and perseverance. In comments relayed by Punto de Break, he stated: “Jannik made enormous progress between 2023 and 2024, the year he started winning Grand Slam titles.
Before his Major breakthrough, his results were very similar to mine; he was already an incredible player, reaching Masters 1000 finals and more, but he lacked those small details to become the best.
“His game hasn’t changed much”
I remember one summer, I was playing in Monte Carlo, and I saw him training four hours a day, every day, with incredible discipline alongside Vagnozzi. They repeated every shot over and over, never missing a single session.
He truly made a qualitative leap because he started working better, much more seriously. His game hasn’t changed much; he’s simply become better in every aspect.
His serve, returns, forehand, and backhand are more precise. I don’t think he added anything new, even the volley; he’s always had a solid volley.”
