Rybakina doesn't linger at Roland-Garros
Elena Rybakina is quietly making her way through the women's singles draw at Roland-Garros. It has to be said that each of her appearances on the Parisian courts has been rather furtive since the start of the fortnight.
On Saturday, the Kazakh qualified for the last 16 of this 2024 edition by easily overcoming Elise Mertens (6-4, 6-2), in just 1 hour and 7 minutes on Court Philippe Chatrier. Before that, she needed an hour and 6 minutes to defeat Alexandra Rus in the 2nd round (6-3, 6-4), and an hour and 13 minutes to dispose of Greet Minnen in the 1st round (6-2, 6-3).
Rybakina therefore spent just 3 hours and 26 minutes on the courts before attacking the second round of the tournament on Monday. She will face the winner of the forthcoming match between Elena Svitolina and Ana Bogdan.
