Rybakina loses to Keys at the Australian Open

Elena Rybakina, one of the outsiders at the Australian Open, was eliminated in the round of 16 by Madison Keys.

She lost 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.

Since her final in Melbourne in 2023, the Kazakh has had a very disappointing Grand Slam record on hard court, with two losses in the second round, one in the third and today's defeat in the Round of 16.

Keys declared in a post-match interview: "I'm really proud of myself. She really raised her game in the second match. She showed that the serve is a powerful weapon."

She will face Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals, who beat Veronika Kudermetova.
