Sabalenka and Anisimova Advance: They Will Face Off in the US Open Final

Tonight, the women’s semifinals of the US Open took place. The first match featured Aryna Sabalenka against Jessica Pegula.
Despite an early break in the first set, the Belarusian lost four consecutive games and fell 6-4.
But she quickly regrouped, breaking Pegula right at the start of the second set and holding all her service games. In the third set, Sabalenka broke Pegula again early on, and despite three break-back opportunities in the sixth game and another in the eighth, the American was never able to get back into the match.
Sabalenka ultimately won with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. In the final, she will face Amanda Anisimova, who qualified after a late-night match against Naomi Osaka.
The first set between the two players was very tight. Although Osaka served for the set, it went to a tie-break, which the Japanese player won 7-4.
The second set was erratic, marked by six breaks of serve. This time, it was Anisimova who served for the set but was unable to close it out.
She managed to refocus and win the tie-break 7-3. The two players battled for a spot in the final in the third set, which began at midnight local time.
It was Anisimova who managed to break in the fourth game, and despite two break-back chances when serving for the match, she won with a score of 6-7, 7-6, 6-3.
Marked by her lost final at Wimbledon, the American has managed to reach another Grand Slam final and will face Sabalenka, whom she defeated in the Wimbledon semifinals.
