Sabalenka withdraws from Wimbledon!
Aryna Sabalenka will not be taking part in the 2024 edition of Wimbledon. The world No.3 has been suffering from a right shoulder injury since the Berlin tournament, when she was forced to retire in the quarter-finals against Anna Kalinskaya. The Biélorruse, semi-finalist at the 2021 and 2023 editions, was unable to recover in time to defend her chances this year on the grass of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Sabalenka is replaced in the final draw by Mirra's older sister Erika Andreeva, ranked 101st in the world, who was beaten in the last round of qualifying. The Russian will face American Emina Bektas in the first round.
