Safina: "In my day, there were more stable players".
Former world No.1 Dinara Safina was interviewed about women's tennis today. In my day, there were more stable players. There were the Williams sisters, Davenport, Mauresmo, Henin, Sharapova, Clijsters.
They were all stable throughout the year. The top 10 was very dense, the girls were very hard to beat. Now, someone can fail at three or four tournaments, then get back into the top 10.
Now there's Gauff, Pegula, but they're all unstable. Only Sabalenka and Swiatek have played the whole season with virtually no setbacks."
